The YACHT Blog

Summer is a season of sunshine, freedom, and endless possibilities, and for the members of YACHT, it was a time to embark on exciting adventures and explore personal interests. As we reconvene and share our experiences, it's clear that the break was filled with diverse activities and memorable moments.

As the alumni chair of our club, I had the privilege of hearing about some of the incredible experiences our members had. From traveling to exotic destinations to embracing local cultures and traditions, our members truly made the most of their summer. Whether they were pursuing their passions, connecting with new friends, or simply enjoying some well-deserved relaxation, one thing was clear: the break was a time for growth, bonding, and unforgettable memories.

This previous Saturday YACHT has it's semesterly alumni weekend. Alumni are the lifeblood of our fraternity. They are the ones who have gone before us and set the standards for what it means to be a member of our organization. It's always exciting when alumni come back to visit, and what better way to thank them then a delicious pig roast!

The brothers spent the day preparing the pig, slow-roasting it over an open flame and basting it with their secret sauce. As the pig cooked, the smell of barbecue filled the air and drew in a crowd of hungry hokies. Throughout the day, alumni of all ages filtered in and out of our cookout, sharing laughs, and talked about the good old days.

As the alumni said their goodbyes and headed home, they left with full stomachs and warm hearts. The pig roast may have been the main event, but the true highlight of the weekend was the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and celebrate the bonds that had been formed throughout our fraternity.

One of the most exciting events in our fraternity's calendar is our semesterly big little event. During this event, each newly initiated member is paired with a "big brother" or mentor, to guide and support them through their college journey. The event brought together new and old members to celebrate the bond of brotherhood and to welcome our newest little brothers into the fraternity.

In addition to the reveal, each family competed against each other in a water pong tournament. The competition was fierce and the teams gave it their all. The crowd was loud and energetic, cheering on their favorite teams and encouraging them to play their best. The tournament was a great showcase of sportsmanship, and was a great way for YACHT members to come together, have a great time, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Congratulations to everyone on the Podium!
